Instrument Engineer

PERL are an expanding Contract Pharmaceutical Engineering Company. We are looking for an Instrument Engineer to join our company, based in Leistershire. The role is a key position within the company requiring process controls experience and calibration skills appropriate to a pharmaceutical manufacturing environment.
Quality is a primary focus to ensuring clients receive a safe, effective and quality assured service. This requires working to the principles of current Good Manufacturing Practice, in order to achieve the high standards required. Documented maintenance and calibration is an integral part of the daily routine.

The Role/ main duties;

  • Carry out on site contract calibration and instrument maintenance work.
  • Providing first hand technical diagnosis and correction of maintenance problems to maintain the client sites in a safe and efficient operational condition.
  • Procedure and report writing to GMP standards
  • Carry out instrument repairs, modifications, plant upgrades, installation and commissioning of instruments. (This may include pressure, temperature, flow, level, humidity instruments, refrigeration, cooling systems, clean air and air handling equipment).
  • Carrying out Maintenance and Instrument Criticality Assessments

The Person/Education/Qualifications:

The ideal candidate for this position will be a qualified instrument Engineer with a minimum of HNC in instrumentation or equivalent, and have proven pharmaceutical (worked in GMP/ISO9000 quality environment) experience. In addition;

  • Excellent diagnostic and communication skills, both verbal and written, who thrives on problem solving.
  • Ability to read engineering drawings, P&ID`s, electrical schematics (e.g. single line diagrams, block diagrams, termination drawings)
  • Familiar with and confident working to written procedures for calibration.
  • A Flexible working attitude
  • Computer literate with proven competency in the use of MS Word and MS Excel
  • A current full driving licence is essential
